hi dolls! it's isobel here again from holdenonbaby. i'm so excited to be back guest posting for all of you pirates and peonies reader! if you missed my first guest post and want to get to know me a little better, then you can check it out here.

today, i wanted to share some tips on dressing little boys...

as a mama to boys, you will almost always have a smaller selection of clothes to choose from than what is offered in the girls section, and while there are infinite possibilities when it comes to dressing a boy, it usually takes a little extra effort to find those options. when i first found out i was having a son, i was beyond thrilled. i have always dreamed of having a household filled with testosterone (4 or more boys for me please!). in celebration of the news, my husband and i walked across the street to baby gap immediately following the ultrasound to buy the little man's very first outfit. from the front of the store, i could see the baby girls section taking up almost the entire back of the store filled with frilly dresses, vibrant colors, and mini me chanel-inspired flats. ummm, where's the boys stuff? we wondered. after a little hunting, we finally found the tiny corner of the store that was dedicated to baby boys and picked out an outfit from the small collection. and so it began.

although the options when shopping for girls is bountiful, we have found that by using a variety of brands and price points, shopping in unexpected places (including the girls section!), experimenting with color, and accessorizing with hats, scarves, and even jewelry, your little man can be the most stylish guy on the block.

splurge: thief & bandit headband // gro doodle tee // nico nico organic camden tee // esp no. 1 narrow jean - ochre // bensimon tennis shoes

steal: zara knitted hat // target cherokee sweater // old navy little rebel graphic tee // h&m red chinos // minnetonka velcro back flap moccassins

your outward appearance is a reflection of who you are and as much as we don't like to admit it, first impressions are more often than not lasting impressions. holden is an adventurous spirit, a true boy, with a fondness for nature and the outdoors and i like to dress him accordingly, using his clothes as an expression of who he is.
