send them

because we all know the events that happened. these past 2 days have been filled on and off with so much emotion and tears. knowing there are mothers who will never get to hold their babies one last time. whisper i love yous into those precious ears. and see many firsts that were still to come. words can not even tell them how much my heart mourns for them. it is a difficult thing to ever imagine. such peace and innocence disrupted in so many lives. loved ones taken. it is hard to not get emotional and want to hold onto my children as close as i can. as a mother i could not ever imagine having my child's life taken. not only in such horrific events, but in any event. my heart reaches out to them, and my prayers cross many distances to hold them up.

to be honest i wasn't even going to write anything on this because my words seem so little and worthless, but i can not help but feel grieved about the comments that i have been reading this evening. many mothers are living in fear for their own children, and many are claiming to keep their children home tomorrow. even people who are not mothers are saying they have no idea if they want to bring a child into this messed up world. let me tell you, those mothers who lost their children would not ever have taken back those beautiful days that they had those children to hold! ever! for anything! i am certain they have no regrets about every beautiful moment they had with that child. and as much as i feel some of those things and understand the feelings people are trying to convey, i also want to share with you that you can not live your life in fear. you can not change the things that have happened. neither could the school involved have done anything different - those heroes did all that they were taught. every protocol was followed and no one could have known what was to come of that day when they woke up. it is all of these things that are so important to remember. that, yes, people do bad things, but Jesus himself came into this world at one of the darkest times. He was a light! He was a Savior! He was hope! He was love! this dark world still needs a light. they need someone to rise up and shine. and create change. and show love. be that person! i know we have Jesus so there is hope! so we can not hide and hole ourselves up in hopes that we stay safe and stay just the way we are, if we did that how would we ever reach those in need? how would we ever reach the broken and weary. this is exactly what the devil wants - is for people to live in fear. instead show him he has no place in this world and shine your light brighter and bolder than ever. yes, still hold your children close and take every chance to tell them you love them, but do not hold them back from being the light that they are to this world. do not ever give them the spirit of fear, because OUR GOD is BIGGER, GREATER, and STRONGER! and there is still a world to reach and how will it be reached if we don't send them?

please do not forget those precious lives that were taken, and lift those families up in prayer. but also do not let their deaths be in vein, rise up, get bold and reach those who are hurting!

if you are still in fear, please write down the verses below and say them continually for when you need encouragement and reminders! and even when not in dark times these verses are wonderful confessions over your families.

a verse for peace: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.
-Isaiah 26:3

a verse for overcoming worry: These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation:but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
-John 16:33

verses for boldness: You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in thee than he who is in the world.
- 1 John 4:4

Therefore, since we have such a hope {Jesus}, we are very bold
2 Chorinthians 3:12

verses for protection: There shall no evil befall me (or my children) neither shall any plague come near my dwelling
-Psalm 91:10
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31

love to you all.

Great read! I am in total agreement with you! My daughter is in Kindergarten and could not help but think that the amount of sweet lives lost were the same amount in my daughters class. This is an extremely heartbreaking event but I too believe that we should not live in fear. We pray over our kids daily and have faith in God's protection and will. God is bigger than Satan and as Americans we need to wake up and realize we need Him now more than ever. Our work as Christians is greater than ever! Thanks for the compilation of verses!

Thank you so much for the kind words! My son is also in kindergarten, so we can only imagine...
I am so glad to hear there are other mothers who are training their kids up! God bless you and your family!

This is a beautiful post. Being from CT, I can say that we are all uneasy, crying with each other in public places, meeting eye to eye with one another and knowing that we are all in mourning. Everyone is. These verses will help us know that there is something stronger than this. Stronger than evil, and that we can overcome it. Thank you.

Lynzy, I can't imagine how close this is to your heart, being from there and all! I will be thinking of your state, and be comforted in knowing people from all over the world have you in their thoughts and prayers!!

Thank you so much - you have no idea how refreshing it was to read this amidst the crazy arguments that are going on over the internet. We need HOPE and we need to continue being a light in this world!! I have 5 children, 4 of which are schoolage and in the public school system...yes, I am DEEPLY affected by what happened, but it just makes me want to dig deeper & get more involved in my community & reach out more to those in need instead of hide away...your blog post was so refreshing! Thanks for being raw & honest...we need more of that from Christians!
