winging it.

ok so I love the idea of re-opening an etsy shop and I would love to hear your opinions on these winged shirts I made. I want to hear what you do and don't like about them. How much you would realistically pay for something like this, and if you even would let your child wear something like this for fun.  I want to hear it all. Colors. Style of wings. Anything that will help improve!

I personally am all for my kids dressing in costume if it pleases them and so far Rowan asks to wear this shirt way more often than I thought he would. I am already seeing tweaks that I would make but I want to hear what you think about it so far! Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

tub party

from the iphone...
I did not think that any activities on Valentine's Day that included a bathtub would go like this! I am not sure how this idea came about but I was in the party isle at target and it was only $1.50 for a pack of balloons. I knew I couldn't go wrong when I bought them and I would figure out what to do with them once I got home. Well, no grand ideas came to mind once I was blowing them up-- I was sure that I would think of something. Truth be told it was mid-day and blowing up 20 balloons with a stuffy nose was not ideal- I was getting crabby. I just wanted my boys to have fun and I knew that if I hung the balloons I was sure to be bothered if they tore them down. That was when the solution came. These were balloons for the boys, not me! I wanted them to jump around in them and create havoc. I remembered the simplicity of a ball pit. Nothing special just balls. That was it! A balloon pit would be just as good! Then realized I needed a place to contain them, well that was where the tub came in. It may not have been as fancy as I pictured when I bought the balloons but it sure stirred up hours of fun and lots of good memories.

If you are a mom of younger kids I really recommend this! It was so simple and inexpensive. A few balloons did pop under the chaos but it didn't seem to phase either of my boys!

valentine's day panic

I had a hectic weekend which left for little time to prepare my son for his Pre-K VDay party. I didn't want to just wrap a box in foil. I wanted to do something that really interested him. We had little time and few resources. The idea came from something my brother-in-law had made my nephew a few years back. His was far more complicated and professional looking (he had multiple lego layers) but we were in a pinch! My son seemed very proud of his box and didn't care that we didn't spend much time on it! Hope this help if you are finding yourself frantic or un-inspired!

WHAT YOU NEED: scissors // colored duck tape of choice // empty paper towel roll // Empty soda 12 pack (or any cardboard box) I used 8 small cut rolls.
1
Photo 1: Cut paper towel roll down to desired size. Keep in mind the proportion of the box you are using. I do not mind if my items look homemade but some of you may be more perfectionist than I so in that case I would measure each cut out to be sure they are the same size.

Photo 2: Just to give you the idea of the look we are going for.

3
Photo 3:Use long stripes to cover the entire box. BE SURE TO LEAVE A SLIT TO PLACE CARDS IN. Do not waste time covering the bottom... that is also how you will retrieve the cards later on.

4
Photo 4: STEP 1- use a small square to cover top of paper roll. STEP 2- Use a long piece of duck tape and wrap it neatly around the edge enclosing all of the wall and covering the edges of your first placed square. STEP3- just shows that the tape with probable exceed the width of the roll. Step 4- roll down bottom edge to seal off the left over tape. Be sure it is flush with the rest of the roll.
Then all you do is hot glue those on to your already covered in duck tape box!

FINISHED PRODUCT!

rocker

There are so many things I love about Rowan, but his natural cool is definitely on the top of the list. He has this fabulously, sweet nature about him. He is always making wonderful faces and runs around making up silly songs. He loves to bring joy to everyone around him. He is our joy and I love how he affects those around him!!

bang bang

My father has this old photo of him with his toy guns hanging up in their guest room. I love that photo of my father, and I figure if my boys were going to play with weapons I want them to remind me of my toddler-age father, so I searched out some vintage toy guns. I love the quality of them compared to newer toy guns. I was shocked at how much my boys love them. I didn't think that I would ever allow toy weapons in my home. I soon realized that it creates a lot of imaginative play, which is more important than being terrified of their awareness of weapons. I think as a mom you end up doing {or allowing behavior} things you swore you never would (before you had children). I feel that as long as you follow your heart and instincts it is ok to let some of those rules go out the window without agonizing over your failure of giving in. There are bigger things to worry about in life anyways!

kim's baby shower

My Sister-in-law is about to have a baby girl and we celebrated her growing bump this past weekend. Her shower was thrown by her best friend Casey, who did an amazing job. We made cute little onesies personally decorated with our puff paint art, hopefully baby Emma won't be embarrassed to rock them! The cake pops were so good I almost shoved some in my bag to take home. It is always fun to celebrate a new addition into the family especially when it is someone's first child. I can't wait to smooch her {and of course ruffle her butt} when she comes into this world. Congrats Kimmy!
