Much of Europe is open again to travelers from select countries after most of it has been locked down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. For those lucky enough to be able to travel, here are the most interesting cities to see in Europe.
Prague
Prague has a very interesting and even dark history making it interesting to travelers with an inclination to history and politics. The Czech capital is one of the most storied and resilient cities in Europe having survived countless invasions, floods, and fires. But even if you don’t care much about the past, Prague is still a worthwhile place to visit. It’s also an eye candy and a treat for architecture enthusiasts with its magnificent castles, statue-lined bridges, and historical churches. If you have been to the most popular places in Europe but have never been to Prague, then you are seriously missing out.
Budapest
Budapest offers a little bit of everything for everyone. If you’re looking for a place where you can party all night long, then the nightclubs in this city will not disappoint. If you are looking for a destination where you can unwind, then let the thermal baths of Budapest soothe your tired body. If you’re a history buff who gets thrilled seeing storied buildings churches, and castles, then a trip to the Hungarian capital is a must. The city combines new and old features quite well making it the perfect vacation spot for the whole family.
Stockholm
Sweden doesn’t usually come up in lists of must-visit countries in Europe. But the Scandinavian nation offers plenty of attractions that even the most jaded travelers will enjoy. It’s capital Stockholm is home to very interesting natural and human-made wonders that will delight your senses. The best time to visit Stockholm is during summer where you can enjoy a wonderful climate and almost 24-hours of sunlight. But if you can tolerate the cold, Stockholm offers plenty of os surprises during winter too such as the chance to ice skate in one of its frozen rivers.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam remains to be a dream destination for hippie types who like to spend their days drinking coffee, beer, and yes, smoking herbs. But there’s more to Amsterdam than being a hippie haven. The city is one of the secret shopping destinations of Europe’s fashionistas who frequent the quaint boutiques on Nine Little Streets. Even if you have been to Amsterdam before, there’s always a reason for you to come back.
Dublin
Dublin is a melting pot of different cultures and eras. It beautifully combines interesting elements from the past with the convenience of modern technology. The diverse influences of immigrants are evident in Ireland’s largest city. It can be seen in everything from the food, architecture, and customs. Of course, there’s one thing that remains purely Irish, Guinness of course. You can’t leave the city without at least consuming a pint of the dark brew. If you want to combine the contemporary and the traditional, then Dublin should be on your list.
